Start Here: Yarken Overview

Welcome to Yarken

Yarken helps teams bring technology spend, planning, analytics, FinOps, chargeback, and AI driven insight into one connected operating model.

Before teams can use Yarken effectively, the right foundations need to be in place. This includes master data, spend data, budget data, model configuration, mappings, users, and permissions.

Once setup is complete, users can review spend, analyze variance, plan budgets and forecasts, ask questions in Ask Yarken, and manage accountability through showback and chargeback.

What you can do first

  1. Load master data and spend data

  2. Configure the financial model used for allocation and reporting

  3. Map spend through cost pools, towers, assets, solutions, and consumers

  4. Review Home to understand current spend, trends, and variance

  5. Use dashboards and reports to investigate key areas

  6. Use Analytics for deeper analysis across dimensions and cubes

  7. Use Ask Yarken to ask questions about spend, forecast, variance, and cost drivers

  8. Use Planning to manage budgets, forecasts, and workforce costs

  9. Use Chargeback when costs need to be assigned to business units or consumers

Setup foundations

Yarken depends on a reliable data and model foundation.

Master data, spend data, budget data, mappings, rules, users, and permissions should be configured before users begin relying on reporting and analysis.

The model connects financial data to technology structures such as cost pools, towers, applications, products, services, consumers, vendors, cost centers, and entities.

This structure allows Yarken to support consistent reporting, planning, chargeback, and AI driven analysis.

Where to begin

Most teams begin by preparing the environment.

Start with master data and spend data, then configure the model and allocation rules. Once data is mapped, review Home to confirm that spend, trends, and variance are appearing as expected.

From there, users can move into dashboards, reports, Analytics, Planning, Ask Yarken, or Chargeback depending on their role and objective.

After setup

Once the environment is ready, Home becomes the starting point for most users.

Home gives a high-level view of technology spend, current month performance, projected spend, budget variance, cloud spend, labor, vendors, applications, solution offerings, and consumers.

Users can then drill into reports, explore Analytics, ask questions in Ask Yarken, update plans, or review chargeback outputs.
