What Ask Yarken does

Ask Yarken can help you:

  1. Explain what changed in technology spend.

  2. Identify why budgets, forecasts, or actuals moved.

  3. Break down spend by cost pool, tower, vendor, application, account, entity, cost center, solution, or consumer.

  4. Analyze cloud spend and FinOps cost drivers.

  5. Review vendors and contracts.

  6. Compare actuals, budgets, and forecasts.

  7. Drill into granular-level spend details where available.

  8. Generate charts to support analysis.

  9. Recommend practical next actions such as rightsizing, showback updates, vendor review, forecast adjustment, and much more.

Ask Yarken is not a generic chatbot. It works inside Yarken and uses the financial, operational, and technology data your organization has loaded and governed in the platform.

Why Ask Yarken matters

Technology spend moves across many layers, including cloud, SaaS, infrastructure, vendors, applications, business units, cost centers, and financial plans.

A single variance can involve several dimensions.

Ask Yarken helps reduce the time between question and decision. Instead of manually tracing spend through separate reports, users can ask a direct question and receive a structured answer backed by available data and governed access.

For executive and operational teams, this supports:

  1. Faster variance explanations.

  2. Clearer accountability across consumers and cost centers.

  3. Better alignment between Finance, IT, and business owners.

  4. More consistent analysis across teams.

  5. Earlier visibility into spend risk and forecast pressure.

How Ask Yarken works

When you ask a question, Ask Yarken interprets the intent, evaluates the available context, chooses the right analysis path, and returns a structured answer.

Depending on the question, it can use different capabilities such as spend analysis, cloud spend analysis, contract analysis, schema discovery, search lookup, and chart rendering.

For example, a question about cloud overspend can be analyzed across budget variance, solution drivers, business consumers, and cloud usage contributors, then returned with recommended next actions.

Ask Yarken works with governed data in Yarken, including:

  1. Actual spend.

  2. Budgets and forecasts.

  3. Cloud spend.

  4. Contracts.

  5. Vendors.

  6. Applications.

  7. Accounts.

  8. Cost centers.

  9. Entities.

  10. Consumers.

  11. TBM and FinOps mappings.

  12. Granular-level spend fields where available.

Available results depend on the data loaded in your Yarken environment and the access assigned to the user asking the question.

Access and permissions

Ask Yarken respects Yarken permissions. Users only receive answers based on data they are authorized to view.

This includes account, cost center, entity, and role-based access controls. If a user does not have access to a data area, Ask Yarken does not expose it through answers, charts, summaries, or recommendations.

Ask Yarken is a licensed feature. Your environment must include access to the relevant AI capabilities before you can use the Ask Yarken experience.
