The Cost Explorer is designed to display a visual representation of cost distribution based on the TBM Taxonomy. The explorer is based on the cost transparency model and shows the breakdown of total spend into different layers in the TBM Spend Model. It also visualizes how the cost is distributed to the Solution Offering through different Assets. With the Cost Explorer, you can gain insights into your cost distribution patterns, identify cost factors, and make informed decisions to optimize your cost allocation.
How it works
Cost Explorer consolidates all spend related data into a single, user-friendly interface. It is integrated with your Spend Model and provides a distribution of the relevant cost data.
Each cost factor is visually represented by a node. To indicate the degree of cost distribution, a gray background is used for fully distributed costs, while a blue background denotes full or partially undistributed costs. The red color represents over distributed spend. The color dissipates progressively as the cost is transferred from the source node to the destination node. The cost factors are interconnected by lines, creating a visual representation of their distribution.
How to use
On the dashboard, you can move the explorer’s position by using click and drag functionality. You can alter the page layout by zooming in or zooming out. You can check a single cost distribution by clicking on a specific cost element (node). Upon clicking, a side-out drawer opens with an additional details of distributed cost such as Mapped %, Mapped From, Mapped To, Amount, and Grand Total.
Each added layer can be further filtered out by cost elements. Additionally, a year and month filter are provided to further refine the data on the explorer.
Use cases
Cost Optimization: You can get a detailed cost distribution by layers such as Towers, Cost Pools, Business Units and identify areas for optimization.
Cost Allocation: Cost explorer helps you to plan the cost allocation strategy. It also shows you the unallocated cost for TBM models.
