Manage, import, and export Insights Rules

Use this page to manage existing Insight Rules, export rules for backup or migration, and import rules from a file.

Edit Insight Rules

Procedure

  1. Navigate to Admin > Insights Rules.

  2. Locate the Insight Rule you want to modify and click Edit icon next to the rule.

  3. On the Edit Insight Rule popup, update the required fields.

  4. Click SAVE to apply the changes.

Note: Edited records that were originally loaded from a file are automatically de-linked from the source file.

Delete Insight Rules

Procedure

  1. Navigate to Admin > Insights Rules.

  2. Locate the Insight Rule you want to modify and click Delete icon next to the rule.

  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Export Insight Rules

Use Export to download Insight Rule configurations in JSON format for review, backup, or migration.

Exporting is useful when:

  • Rule configurations need to be reviewed offline

  • Rules need to be backed up before making major changes

  • Rules need to be migrated or replicated to another environment

  • A standard rule set needs to be documented or shared with another team

Procedure

  1. Navigate to Admin > Insights Rules.

  2. On the upper-right corner, click ellipsis menu.

  3. Select Export.

  4. Download the exported JSON file.

  5. Store or share the file according to your internal process.

The exported file contains the full configuration of each Insight Rule, allowing it to be re-imported as needed.

Import Insight Rules

Use Import to load Insight Rule configurations from a JSON file. This allows you to create multiple rules in bulk or restore rules from a previous export.

Importing is useful when:

  • Multiple Insight Rules need to be created at once

  • A standard rule set is being applied to a new environment

  • Rule configurations are being restored from a backup

  • Rules need to be replicated across environments

Procedure

  1. Navigate to Admin > Insights Rules.

  2. On the upper-right corner, select IMPORT.

  3. Select the JSON file to upload.

  4. Confirm the import when prompted.

After importing rules, review each configuration before relying on it for ongoing monitoring. Check:

  • Rule name and description

  • Metric and condition settings

  • Threshold values

  • Active state

Imported rules may need environment-specific updates before they are production-ready.
