What the TBM Taxonomy setting controls
TBM Taxonomy settings determine how Yarken structures and manages cost pools, towers, solutions, consumers, and their related hierarchy.
These settings shape how technology finance data is categorized across the Finance view, IT view, Business and service view, and Accountability view.
Core structure
The default taxonomy is organized around the main components used to structure technology spend:
-
Cost Pools and Sub Cost Pools
-
Towers and Sub Towers
-
Solutions, including Solution Type, Solution Category, and Solution Name
-
Consumers, where configured for showback, chargeback, and accountability reporting
Default taxonomy components provided by the application are governed. Custom components added by your organization can be managed as needed.

Taxonomy behavior
The selected taxonomy determines which categories, labels, and relationships appear across the model.
For example, staffing-related costs may be grouped broadly or separated into more detailed categories such as employee, contractor, vendor resource, internal staffing, or external staffing depending on the configuration.
