Consumers represent who ultimately consumes IT services. While Solutions define what IT delivers, Consumers define who those services are delivered to—such as business units, departments, customers, or cost owners.
Consumer allocation is the final step in the Yarken cost distribution workflow and determines how Solution costs are charged or reported.
How Consumer allocation works
At Consumers level, all upstream allocations—Cost Pools, Towers, and Solutions—must already be completed. Spend can be allocated only from Solutions to Consumers.
-
Consumer allocation works only with a mapping process.
-
Each Solution’s spend can be:
-
Fully allocated to a single Consumer, or
-
Split across multiple Consumers
-
-
Allocation is performed monthly, with each month maintaining its own mapping
Once Consumer allocation is complete, the cost flow for the selected month is finalized. The resulting data supports chargeback, showback, and reporting.
Prerequisites for Consumer allocation
Before allocating spend to Consumers, ensure the following:
-
Consumer (such as business units or customers) must already defined in the Master Data.
-
Solutions spend must have allocated for the selected month.
