Solution mapping

Solution mappings allow you to explicitly map spend from one or more assets to multiple offerings using asset attributes such as Asset ID and Offering ID. The mappings are file-based and can be copied from another month.

The solution mapping,

• Requires explicit definition of from-asset and to-offering.

• Uses asset IDs and defined portions for allocation.

Use Asset mapping when:

• You are working with large volumes of records and want to directly map spend using asset ID.

• You need direct mapping without adding multiple conditions to asset’s attributes.

Ways to create Solution mapping

You can start Solution mapping in one of the following ways:

1. Add mapping file
   Upload a mapping file to create Solution mappings in bulk.

2. Copy mapping from another month
   Reuse Solution mappings from a previously configured month.

Add Solution mapping file

This strategy involves a process of uploading a mapping file. You can use the Asset to Solution Mapping template file from Data Dictionary.

Prerequisites

Before uploading, ensure your file includes values in the mandatory columns:

• Asset Type

• Asset ID

• Offering ID

• Portion

Procedure

1. Navigate to Solutions.

2. Select the target month.

3. Click the ellipsis (… ) menu.

4. Select Add Mapping.

5. Upload the mapping file (.xlsx or .csv).

6. Map the required fields in the upload screen:

   1. Asset Type - Specifies the source asset category (for example, Applications, Products, Services).

   2. Asset ID - Identifies the specific asset from which spend is being mapped.

   3. Offering ID - Identifies the target Solution Offering to which spend is allocated.

   4. Portion - Defines the proportion of spend allocated to the Solution Offering.

7. Review the mapping summary.

8. Click FINISH to apply the mapping.

Once uploaded, the mapping is applied to the selected month.

Copy Solution mapping from another month

Use this option to reuse existing Solution mappings.

Procedure

1. Navigate to Solutions.

2. Select the target month.

3. Click the ellipsis (… ) menu.

4. Select Copy Mapping From.

5. Choose the source fiscal year and month.

6. Click COPY MAPPING.

Manage Solution mapping

Once Solution mapping is created for a month, you can manage it to review, reuse, modify, or remove allocation logic.

Solution mapping is month-specific and any changes apply only to the selected month.

View Solution mapping

Viewing Solution mapping allows you to review how asset spend is mapped to Solution Offerings.

Procedure

1. Navigate to Solutions.

2. Select the required month.

3. Click the ellipsis (… ) menu.

4. Select View Mapping.

The SOLUTION MAPPING tab displays:

• Asset Type and Asset ID

• Solution Offering ID

• Allocation portion

Copy Solution mapping to another year

Use this option to copy the existing rules from source year and month to a specific year. Solution rules will be copied to all months of the selected year.

Procedure

1. Navigate to Solutions.

2. Select the source month containing the desired rules.

3. Click the ellipsis (… ) menu.

4. Select Copy Rules To.

5. Choose the target fiscal year.

6. Click COPY RULES.

Download Solution mapping

Downloading Solution mappings allows you to export mapping details for review or audit.

Procedure

1. Navigate to Solutions.

2. Select the required month.

3. Click the ellipsis (… ) menu.

4. Select Download Mapping.

The downloaded file includes asset-to-solution mappings and allocation portions.

Delete Solution mapping

Deleting Solution mapping removes all Solution allocations for the selected month.

Procedure

1. Navigate to Solutions.

2. Select the required month.

3. Click the ellipsis (… ) menu.

4. Select Delete Mapping.

5. Confirm the deletion.
