Application Purpose Spend

The Application Purpose Spend report provides a detailed view of application spend for a selected application purpose.

This report enables you to analyse how much is being spent to support a specific business purpose, compare year-to-date (YTD) performance against the prior year, and understand how that spend is distributed across hosting, cost pools, towers, cost centers, and individual applications.

This report is accessed by drilling down from the Spend by Purpose chart in the Application Portfolio dashboard and is scoped to a selected application purpose.

KPIs

Spend (YTD)

Total application spend for the selected year to date

Total Prior Year Spend

Total spend for the prior year.

Prior Year Spend (YTD)

Year-to-date spend in the prior year.

Variance (YTD)

Difference between current year spend (YTD) and prior year spend (YTD).

Potential Savings

Expected cost savings that could be achieved by following the recommendations.

Realized Savings

Actual cost savings achieved by implementing the recommendations.

Monthly Hosting Spend

This chart shows a detailed breakdown of the monthly spend by hosting types for the filtered criteria. The hosting types include Cloud, Mainframe, SaaS, and Virtual.

Click on any month to drill into transaction level spend for the given hosting type.

Cost Pools

The Cost Pools chart shows the cumulative YTD spend and prior year YTD spend broken down by cost pool.

Click on any cost pool to drill further into the spend for the cost pool.

Applications

This chart shows the cumulative YTD spend and prior year YTD spend broken down by application.

Click on any row to drill into transaction level spend for the application.

Towers

The Towers chart shows the cumulative year to date spend and prior year to date spend broken down by TBM Tower.

Click in any tower to drill into related GL transaction.

Top 20 Cost Centers

This chart shows the cumulative YTD spend and prior year YTD spend broken down by cost centers.

Click on a cost centers to see a drill down to the transaction level.

The Application Purpose Spend Details table shows the application spend trend for month-on-month. Spend is shown as YTD, prior year spend and variance for each month.
