Use this guide to:
-
Create an AWS billing data export in FOCUS format
-
Generate AWS access credentials for setting up AWS S3 Pipeline connection in Yarken
-
Understand the S3 folder and file structure used for billing exports
Overview
Yarken can automatically import AWS billing and usage data from an Amazon S3 bucket using an AWS S3 Storage Pipeline.
Yarken supports AWS billing data in both FOCUS 1.0 and FOCUS 1.2 formats. Existing FOCUS 1.0 integrations can continue to load data into Yarken. FOCUS 1.2 can be used where available or if you want to take advantage of the additional supported billing and pricing fields.
AWS provides FOCUS billing data through AWS Data Exports. Select the FOCUS version appropriate for your integration and reporting requirements.
How the integration works
-
AWS generates billing export files and stores them in Amazon S3.
-
Yarken periodically connects to the S3 bucket, retrieves new files, validates them, imports the data, and archives processed files.
Before you begin
Ensure you have:
-
AWS account with access to Billing and Cost Management
-
Existing Amazon S3 bucket
-
IAM permissions to create exports and access S3
If your organization restricts access to the S3 bucket through IP allowlists, contact Yarken Support to obtain the required IP addresses for whitelisting.
