Overview
After configuring the Azure Cost Management export, verify that Azure is generating billing files by downloading one of the exported files from your Azure Storage Account.
Reviewing an exported file confirms that the export is configured correctly before you configure the Azure Blob Pipeline in Yarken.
Note:
Azure may take 12–24 hours to generate the first billing export. If you recently created the export, wait until the first scheduled export completes before attempting to download a file.
The folder location of the exported file depends on the export name and storage details provided when defining the new export.
The following steps explain how to find the exported file from cost analysis.
Procedure
To download,
-
In the Azure portal, go to your storage account.
-
On left navigation menu, select Containers and choose the container where the file is exported.
-
Navigate through the directory and blob storage folder for the date you want to download the file.
The exported files are organized using the following folder structure:
StorageContainer/StorageDirectory/ExportName/[YYYYMMDD-YYYYMMDD]
-
Open the required Billing Period folder.
-
Locate the exported .parquet file.
-
Right-click the file and select Download.
The file is downloaded to your local computer.
After downloading the file:
-
Confirm that the file has a .parquet extension.
-
Confirm that the file corresponds to the expected billing period.
Result
You have successfully downloaded an Azure billing export and verified that Azure is generating billing files correctly.
The downloaded file can be used to validate your Azure export configuration before configuring the Azure Blob Pipeline in Yarken.
